Heffley Dismayed by Wolf Mask Mandate
WEISSPORT – Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon) issued the following statement in response to Gov. Tom Wolf’s statewide mask mandate for Pennsylvania school students:
“I am dismayed by the governor’s unilateral mask mandate, which comes a week after he asked the General Assembly to take action on the issue. It is yet another example of the Wolf administration acting on its own without any input from local stakeholders and the elected officials who represent them.
“The Disease Prevention and Control Law has never been used for this type of government overreach before and whether it gives the governor the authority to issue such an order is in question.
“Critical decisions such as the wearing of masks should be left to local school district leaders who are better able to determine what is in the best interest of their local communities.”
