Heffley, Argall to Host Hard-To-Read License Plate Replacement May 28
5/23/2024
WEISSPORT – Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon) and Sen. David Argall (R-Carbon/Luzerne/Schuylkill) invite residents to their Hard-to-Read License Plate Replacement event.

The event will be held on Tuesday, May 28, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Palmerton Public Works Building, 412 Third St. Registration is required. To register, call 610-377-6363.

“License plates typically wear out over time from weather and age,” said Heffley. “While PennDOT offers free replacements for these worn-out plates, the process can be burdensome. This event is all about simplifying the process for vehicle owners.”

If the plate is determined to be illegible, paperwork will be completed for free. A new standard replacement plate should arrive in a few weeks at the vehicle owner’s home address.

According to PennDOT, a registration plate is deemed illegible when one or more numbers or letters cannot be recognized from 50 feet or if the registration plate shows any blistering, peeling, discoloration or loss of reflectivity.
