LEHIGHTON – Two Carbon County school districts have received grants as part of the Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts program. The Office of Child Development and Early Learning administers the Pre-K Counts Program, Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon) announced today.
Lehighton Area School District was awarded $170,000 and Weatherly Area School District was awarded $306,000. Pre-K Counts provides quality half-day and full-day pre-kindergarten to eligible 3-and 4-year olds in the Commonwealth.
“Early childhood education is incredibly important to the long-term success of Pennsylvania’s students,” said Heffley. “This is something we advocate for each year and I am encouraged to see two well-deserved grants awarded in Carbon County.”
