LEHIGHTON – In their continuing effort to improve the quality of life for older residents in the region, Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon) and Sen. John Yudichak (D-Luzerne/Carbon) are once again co-hosting a Senior Expo on Thursday, Sept. 6, in Lehighton, Carbon County.

The free event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Co., 2440 Fairyland Road. Please note, this is a new location from previous years.

The expo will feature more than 50 exhibitors that will provide useful information about their programs and services. In addition, a prescription drug drop-off box will be available for seniors to dispose of their unwanted or expired medications. A free lunch will also be served.

“I encourage all seniors, their family members and caregivers to make plans to join us and learn about the various services available to them in our area,” said Heffley. “This information can sometimes be difficult to obtain. Our expo makes it easier and more convenient by bringing service providers and seniors together at the same time, under one roof.”

“I look forward to the Carbon County Senior Expo every year, where I’m able to interact with countless seniors to hear what issues they might have or what help they may need,” said Yudichak. “The expo is a great place for our seniors to gather a wide array of information on programs and services that are readily available for them. The event also serves as an opportunity for seniors to access information directly from not only state, but local and federal agencies.”

The legislators will also be collecting non-perishable food items to donate to a local food bank and ask everyone who attends to consider bringing a donation.

For more information, contact Heffley’s office at 610-377-6363 or Yudichak’s office at 570-325-3274.
