New 2017-18 Session Now Underway with Swearing-In Day
On Tuesday, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives convened so that the oath of office could be administered to House members. The House is now comprised of 121 Republicans and 81 Democrats, including 23 first-term members.
Also on swearing-in day, the House unanimously selected Rep. Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) as speaker of the House for the second consecutive session. The day also included certification of election results, election of the House parliamentarian and adoption of rules that will govern the chamber.
It is an honor to represent the residents of the 122nd District in Carbon County, and I am humbled by the responsibilities of this office. There is a great deal of work to be done this session, including property tax elimination, continued efforts to curb our state’s opioid crisis, and working to make Pennsylvania a destination for job creators. I will always do my best to represent our values in Harrisburg, and I am looking forward to what lies ahead.
