State Grant Awarded for Expansion of D&L Trail in Carbon County, Says Heffley

November 13, 2019

HARRISBURG – State grant funding in the amount of $174,000 has been awarded to East Penn Township for further development of the D&L Trail, according to Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon).

“The D&L Trail has proven to be a tremendous asset for our region,” said Heffley. “I am happy to see the Commonwealth’s continued investment in the trail and the recreational and tourism opportunities it provides.”

Specifically, the funds will go toward the construction of 0.8 miles of trail from State Route 895 to the East Penn Boat Launch and a road crossing, as well as ADA access, landscaping, project sign and other related site improvements.

The funds were made available through the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’(DCNR) recreation and conservation grant program, which is supported by a variety of state and federal funding sources.

The Carbon County investment was among 37 grants awarded by DCNR statewide, totaling approximately $11.2 million, for trail projects including planning, construction and rehabilitation.
