The discussion featured presentations by state officials on programs and funding available to combat blight in Pennsylvania.

HARRISBURG – At the state Capitol on Monday, Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon) hosted two Special Olympic athletes from Carbon County who won gold medals in international competitions last month. Delina Jo Rodrigues of Palmerton took first place in two powerlifting events at the 2019 Special Olympic World Games in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Matthew Anthony of Palmerton, and his father, Christopher, were winners of the Unified Bowling Doubles event at the Special Olympics North America Bowling Competition in Las Vegas.

Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon) that would help to enhance the recovery treatment for patients with a drug addiction was the focus of a hearing today at the state Capitol in Harrisburg conducted by the House Human Services Committee. Heffley is a member of the committee, which is chaired by Rep. Gene DiGirolamo (R-Bucks).

WHAT: The House Human Services Committee, chaired by Rep. Gene DiGirolamo (R-Bucks), will hold a public hearing on House Bills 424 and 596, sponsored by Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon). The bills would create a bed registry and a warm hand-off for addiction treatment. The Blue Guardian program from Lehigh County, which was the inspiration for the warm hand-off legislation, will make a presentation.
