Toohil, Heffley to Seek Committee Meeting on Pending White Haven Center Closure

HAZLETON – After attending Thursday’s public hearing regarding White Haven Center (WHC) conducted by the Department of Human Services (DHS), Reps. Tarah Toohil (R-Luzerne) and Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon) announced they are working with the chairman of the House Human Services Committee, Rep. Gene DiGirolamo (R-Bucks), to hold an urgent meeting regarding the pending closure of the facility for the physically and mentally challenged.

HARRISBURG – St. Luke’s University Health Network today was awarded a $750,000 state grant that will go toward construction of its new hospital in Franklin Township, Carbon County, announced Rep. The two legislators, working together, played a key role in securing the funding through Pennsylvania’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP).

Special Olympians from Carbon County Recognized by PA House of Representatives, Says Heffley

HARRISBURG – At the state Capitol on Monday, Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon) hosted two Special Olympic athletes from Carbon County who won gold medals in international competitions last month. Delina Jo Rodrigues of Palmerton took first place in two powerlifting events at the 2019 Special Olympic World Games in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Matthew Anthony of Palmerton, and his father, Christopher, were winners of the Unified Bowling Doubles event at the Special Olympics North America Bowling Competition in Las Vegas.
